Holly Hobbie

These pictures remind me of my childhood Holly Hobbie dolls and bedsheets. It must be the shape of the hat!

Some Brynley vocabulary:
  • Nigh-nigh - night, night
  • Jooooooooce - juice
  • Dess! - Bless you
  • Mo - more
  • Mmmmmmmm - mmmmmmmmm (yummy)
  • Nana - banana
  • Eggs - eggs
  • Dada - thank you
  • Dada - Daddy
  • Mama - Mommy
  • Moooow - meow
  • Ewwww - moo
  • Woofwoof - Woof, woof
  • Row-row-row - Our Siberian Husky's row-row-row noise
  • ByeBye - bye bye
  • MumMum - mum mum
  • Azazzazzazz - Izzie (Nana's dog)

Other Brynley-isms:

  • Nana was reading her a book and when the spider in the book cried, Brynley made a wimpering, crying noise. Now she keeps turning to that page in the book and "crying" like the spider.
  • She copies every noise, funny face, or motion that anyone makes.
  • She cracks herself up...throwing her hand down and laughing hysterically.
  • When we sing "One, two, cha-cha-cha", Brynley grins and starts dancing around the room. She also does this when any music is playing!
  • She understands what we are saying now. For example, I was looking for her sippy cup the other day and said, "Brynley, where is your sippy cup?" She wandered around the living room, found it, and brought it to me. Sure, this is no miracle, but it amazes me!
  • She loves to be outside.
  • She can curl her tongue.

Law & Order: Book Club Edition

There was an incident a few weeks ago - pre-haircut to be exact, as you can tell from these photos. Shortly before her nap, Brynley went over to my Goodwill pile and grabbed an old paperback book out of the box. Lately when I put her down for a nap or bedtime, she wants to take everything in her hands into the crib with her. There has been more than one night when I have to sneak in her room after she has fallen asleep to retrieve a sippy cup or other inanimate object. On this occasion, it was the book...and I forgot she had it. Let's look at the facts of this case and interrogate the witness.

The suspect looking very sweet...waking up from her nap:

Suspect: "Gibble gully awwa mama"

Detective: "Who is responsible for this crime?"

Suspect: uh-oohhhhh!

The evidence:
Undeniable evidence:
Suspect: I have NO idea who did that!

The smoking gun: the defendent surrounded by the evidence:

"I'm innocent, your honor!"

We'll let the jury decide!

Busy Ball Popper

For Christmas last year, Santa brought Brynley a toy called the Busy Ball Popper! It plays music and uses a fan to shoot the plastic balls into the air or onto the slide...and around and around they go. Brynley loved the toy then. Lately, she has become fascinated with the toy once again especially because she can stand above it and feel the fan blow air onto her face. Sometimes she gets really close to the opening and the ball pops up and surprises her...she squeals in delight!

First Haircut: Before & After

On Wednesday, August 11th, Brynley had her first haircut. Her hairdresser was a friend I've known for 18 years who was also my wedding hairstylist!! Thanks Sachi!

Above are the before & after shots. My sweet girl did not have much hair to begin with, but there was that one piece that kept getting in her eyes no matter which way I combed it. :)

The white rabbit

About two weeks ago, Rob & I noticed a white rabbit near the fence in our backyard. Now, we live in the country so wildlife in our yard is nothing new. A matter of fact, our front yard is a bunny hot spot! All the bunnies we've ever seen are brown though so we were amazed at this little white fellow showing up.

I grabbed my camera and Rob grabbed Brynley, standing with her on the back deck and trying to point out the rabbit to her. I zoomed in and took a picture:

I took my chances and started to creep a little closer to get a better look and a better picture. I'm not sure if Brynley knew what all the fuss was about.

I got really close and zoomed in again, took another pic.
Rob entertained Bryn by tickling her belly button as he shouts to me, "When you are done taking pictures, rattle the fence and see if you can get him to run so Brynley can see him!"

"Ok...one last pic," I yell back.

And then I realize that our little white bunny is actually......trash!
