Catching up...
Brynley stayed with "Grandma" deMariano today while I went and got my hair highlighted and cut. As you can see, I got it cut really short! Grandma says Brynley was a really good girl. She took lots of pictures and videos (Grandma did, not Bryn!). One video is a montage of all of Brynley's perfected looks: anger, surprise, smiles. Yes, smiles!
Tonight I captured a great video of Brynley smiling. It was the first time that I was truly convinced that it was a smile and not just gas. Rob was tickling her and she would just break out into this huge open-mouthed grin. As soon as I find the camcorder cord, I will try posting it to the blog. It is a must-see!
Brynley's last week has been busy. We've been to Grandma's house twice. She met her great-grandmother and a few of Grandma's friends. Her Aunt Tina stayed up late teaching her all about biology and micro-organisms. She met her Auntie Heather and the triplets. Brynley has also been up to her old tricks: She peed on me this time...all down the front of my shirt and the entire right leg of my pajama pants. It was my fault...I took her diaper off before carrying her to the bathroom for her bath and I KNEW better!
Brynley:
- Still screams throughout bathtime!
- Occasionally lets Mom sleep for 3-1/2 hours (this is rare, but wonderful).
- Takes a bottle of breastmilk every once in awhile.
- Is no longer purple.
- Loves to have Mommy sing to her even though I have a horrible singing voice.
- Is infatuated with ceiling fans.
- Got so mad at me tonight that she kicked her socks off!
- Fell asleep listening to The Beatles the other night - maybe she remembers me listening to those CDs throughout the pregnancy.
- Is the light of our lives.

"One-eyed, one-horned flying purple people eater" Alternate title: "My daughter ate Barney!"

To make a long story short, I have had severe, excruciating pain during breastfeeding. It felt like I was producing and feeding shards of glass instead of milk. My doctor believes I have a thrush/yeast infection and I am on antifungals as of today. Another treatment my doctor prescribed is called Gentian Violet (for obvious reasons). My beautiful baby's face will be stained purple for the remainder of the week. If you have time to kill, "google" Gentian Violet and do an image search. I'm not the only cruel parent who has captured their child's picture like this! Apparantly, this is quite a popular photo-op!Brynley's weekend
Granddaddy Hinkley brought Bryn a huge stuffed lamb. This outfit was a gift from Erika and it one of my favorites! I want to copy the design on it and make a picture for the nursery. Just add that to my endless list of dream projects! :)Friday, March 13, 2009
One month old!

- She has started to track things across the room with her eyes. She especially likes to stare at the ceiling fan.
- She has had visits from Jean Marie and her family, Lisa, and Grandma/Grandpa.
- Brynley's first outing with Mom was to Target (well...except when we ran into Walgreens a few weeks ago for diapers!)
- She peed on Dad...and Mom laughed for an hour!
- She's had some nights with very little sleep and some nights with quite a few nice stretches of sleep. She averages two hours at a time, but occassionally blesses me with three hours of sleep.
- She is growing out of her "newborn" sized clothes. I can't believe this!
- The dogs enjoy licking her head and Bryn doesn't flinch.
- She has started to enjoy her swing.
- She holds her head up very well!
We love you, Brynley! You are getting so big so fast!

I need to take more pictures...
Miss Bryn about a week ago
Now this was ridiculously adorable! After a marathon breastfeeding session, Brynley fell asleep on my lap with her mouth wide open and her butt up in the air. Rob & I stopped laughing long enough to snap a few photos. Then we resumed laughing until we woke her up!Thursday, March 5, 2009
Gramma wants more pics!
February 25, 2009The Nursery (still a work in progress!)
The bookcase full of goodies!
Changing dresser. I now have all the changing supplies in a pretty basket.
One of my favorite parts...a primitive teddy and antique blocks. I have now changed the ribbon on the jar...it was just too bright!
